Each year, the foundation welcomes 3 to 5 long-term volunteers (1 to 2 years in duration) to participate in the programs in Manila.
The candidates co-operating through “Tulay ng Kabataan” must respect the following criteria:
• The volunteer embodies a spirit of service. Indeed, the volunteer is there to serve the children of the foundation and must constantly reason on behalf of the children. The volunteer must remain humble in his/her actions as he/she is only one link in the chain of volunteers – many have come before and many will come after.
• The volunteer participates professionally in the good management of the foundation. In this context, he/she works under the responsibility and the authority of the director of the foundation. Just as the local Filipino employees, he/she must comply with the professional and personal rules of the foundation. The volunteer is also called upon to work in a spirit of mutual respect, partnership and collaboration with the employees of the foundation.
• Concerning the mission which will be entrusted to him/her, the volunteer will have to apply himself/herself in a conscientious manner and become completely committed to realising the mission. To this end, the foundation seeks the following profiles: medical (doctor, nurse, health professionals etc.); professional management (accountants, commercial managers, auditors etc.); technical (vocational trainers, engineers).
Through volunteering with “Tulay ng Kabataan”, many former volunteers continue to give of themselves for the children of Manila on their return to France. This continual commitment is the fruit of a successful volunteering, of a marvellous human experience, lived for these children, thanks to these children.
